Infrastructure can be big or small and is often the technical term used for cycling facilities that improve the user experience and enjoyment of the National Park for local residents and visitors.
Cycling Service Stations
Bicycle Tool Stations provide air pumps and tool stations with work
stands and basic tools for the public. Top up Taps are provided by Scottish Water and help save millions of single plastic bottles by topping up your refillable bottle. These services are free to use and easy to access. E-bike charging points are often located in cafes and it is only courtesy to buy a coffee or lunch while you wait for a charge. Bike Shops can help with repairs, bike hire and other essential items, they are also a great source of local information.
We also have a growing number of businesses that offer a #cycleintheparkwelcome have a look here to find cafes, pubs, accommodation providers, transport operators, visitor attractions and retail outlets that make cyclists welcome.

Large infrastructure projects such as building new cycle paths take significant partnership working and resource we continue to support and lobby for improved active travel routes, mobility hubs and bike share schemes to improve rural mobility options, support low carbon transport options . We have many years expertise in developing and delivering successful projects, so get in touch if you think we can help with your active travel project. We will therefore work with partners and seek to influence and guide projects which provide new access opportunities, connect communities or which maintain or improve the visitor experience and enjoyment of the National Park, these projects will include path works, cycle ways, the promotion of active travel opportunities and active recreation facilities within the National Park.
Communities and Businesses are also doing their bit by delivering some of the everyday facilities such as e-bike charging points, secure cycle parking and bicycle tool stations – all of these help create better conditions for a #cycleinthepark enabling more people to leave their cars behind and to enjoy visiting or exploring within the National Park in a sustainable and healthy way.
