Aberfoyle Cycle Meander Routes
Aberfoyle is a great starting point for cycling, with some nice shops and places to eat. We have chosen five of our favourite short meander routes all starting and finishing behind the I-Centre in the heart of the village. Share the paths and trails responsibly and with respect for other users.
An easy route on cycle path, quiet roads and forest paths. Start at Aberfoyle iCentre and follow the cycling signs for NCN7, heading south along the cycle path and onto a quiet road towards Gartmore. A stop at the Black Bull for refreshments before returning on the gravel trails of Lemahamish. Follow the road down to the car park area, heading straight on over the hill to a bridge and around the back of Doon Hill before picking up the road into Aberfoyle. This has one or two hills and is easy to navigate.
Starting at the Aberfoyle iCentre this is a short family friendly route on the cycle path, gravel trails and shared use paths. Follow NCN7 south and just after the Rob Roy Hotel turn right onto a gravel path crossing the Forth over a lovely bridge. Turn right at the end and right again behind Doon Hill. As you re-join the road turn left at Balleich taking a right turn in the forest before turning left then right for a loop around Lochan Spling sculpture trail.
A gravel route in the forest around Braeval. Follow NCN7 north up the Dukes Pass and onto the cycle path. At the waterfall turn right and follow the trail along past the Aberfoyle Golf Course turn left at the end then first right onto a single track trail for a short loop in the forest, taking a right turn after the single track, right at the T junction and a left to return to Aberfoyle. There are spectacular views over the golf course to Ben Lomond on the return journey.
Kinlochard, via Milton and the Statute Labour Road, with spectacular views over Loch Ard. Start in Aberfoyle turning left over the bridge following the signs to Inversnaid and head along the trails towards Milton where it joins the forest roads and along the historic Statute Labour Road. Near Kinlochard keep straight on into the village and follow the road back to Aberfoyle.

A challenging hilly route following gravel trails and finishing on the road. Follow NCN7 north on steep forest paths past Go Ape, joining the Three Lochs Drive at the summit to descend past Loch Drunkie towards Loch Venachar. The drive passes Achray Farm with its wildcrafted goats milk ice cream and the option to visit Brig o’Turk (Tearoom and Pub).
Return the same way off-road or stay on the Forest Drive to its exit onto the A821 and return over the classic winding Dukes Pass road route (can be busy).
