Invasive Species

Invasive species pose a real threat to the important habitats and species that are found within the National Park.  Tackling the problem is a huge undertaking and the Countryside Trust is making a start by supporting Rhododendron Control across the park area. Interestingly a recent study found that the perceived threat posed by invasive species, and therefore their management, was not influenced by the amount of scientific research conducted or the actual threat levels, but was more closely linked to public perceptions and media interest.  So it’s more important than ever that the Countryside Trust spreads the word to make sure everyone in the National Park is aware of the challenges and threats posed to our native habitats by invasive non-native species.
